Haven B Site Retake Overview
Haven is a three-site map (A/B/C), which means retaking B Site after it falls is more complex than on two-site maps. Retaking players must simultaneously consider route selection, timing control, and utility management. This guide provides a systematic B Site retake strategy.
Retake Route Analysis
There are three possible routes to retake B Site from other positions:
- CT Spawn → B Window: The fastest retake route, taking you directly from CT spawn to B Site. Downside: B Window entrance is easily held by attackers
- Garage: Flank through Garage from CT to reach B Site's side. Slower but safer, and you get a side attack angle
- Mid Courtyard → B Site: Rotate through Mid to B. Fast for players originally at A or C, but requires crossing potentially contested Mid territory
Retake Timing Judgment
Timing is the decisive factor in retake success. Retake too early and you risk being intercepted; too late and there's no time to defuse.
- When you hear "heavy B push": Immediately signal all teammates to converge on B. The B defender's job is to delay, not to hold at all costs
- When the B defender dies: Retake players should move fast but NEVER enter B alone — wait for at least 2 teammates before coordinated entry
- When you hear the spike plant sound: Start your timer immediately. You have 40 seconds + defuse time (7 seconds) = about 47 seconds to retake and defuse. Calculate if your route can reach B in time, leaving enough room for clearing and defusing
Key Utility Usage
- Smokes: Block the B Window to B Site sightline, creating safe entry space for retake players
- Flashes: Flash before entering B — never blind push
- Recon: Use Sova's recon dart or Fade's Haunt to confirm enemy numbers and positions inside B Site
- Ultimates: If you have ultimates available (e.g., Brimstone's Orbital Strike), use them to clear known dangerous positions before the retake push
The biggest psychological trap in retakes is impatience. Watching the defuse timer tick down makes you want to rush in — exactly what the attackers are hoping for. Clear methodically, confirm safety, then defuse. Better than rushing in and dying instantly with plenty of defuse time remaining.
