The Odin (3,200 credits) and Ares (1,600 credits) are two often-overlooked weapons. Many players dismiss them as "noob guns," but in the right scenarios, LMGs offer unique tactical value.

Odin Traits & Usage Scenarios

The Odin has the highest wall penetration in Valorant. Its bullets can punch through most standard cover, dealing full damage to enemies behind them.

• Defensive advantage: Pre-aim cover positions on defense. Once you confirm an enemy's position, suppress through walls — they can't hide even behind cover
• Smoke spam: Pair with teammate smokes and spray continuously into the smoke. The Odin's massive 150-round magazine lets you sustain fire for extended periods
• Push suppression: Lay down continuous fire on enemy approach routes, slowing their movement and push tempo
• Economy note: At 3,200, the Odin costs 300 more than the Vandal. But if you struggle with headshots, the Odin's body damage (38) and fire rate provide more consistent DPS

Ares Value Analysis

At just 1,600 credits, the Ares is an incredibly cost-effective defensive weapon. Its main advantages are high fire rate at close range and a large 50-round magazine.

• Force buy champion: When economy is tight but you need firepower, 1,600 Ares + half armor is a high-value setup
• Close-range defense: In tight corridors and corners, the Ares's fire rate can overwhelm rifle users
• ECO flip weapon: Paired with a teammate's flash, the Ares can melt rifle-wielding enemies at close range

LMG Drawbacks

• Movement speed: Equipping an LMG reduces movement speed, making them poor choices for fast attacker pushes
• Long-range weakness: LMG recoil is high; long-range accuracy is far inferior to rifles
• Reload time: The Odin's reload takes a punishing 5 seconds — reloading mid-combat is extremely dangerous
