Sunset A Site Overview
Sunset's A Site is one of the most strategically deep bomb sites in the game. It features multiple entry points, abundant cover, and significant elevation differences. This guide will break down A Site's tactical system from both offensive and defensive perspectives.
Attack Route Analysis
A Site has three main attack routes:
- A Main: The most direct route. Narrow entrance, easily held by defenders. Best pushed with smoke and flash support
- A Short: A flank route entering from Mid Courtyard, allowing you to bypass defenders holding A Main
- A Elbow: A winding offshoot from A Main. Limited visibility but relatively safe — ideal for slow, methodical pushes
Recommended Attack Strategies
Here are two battle-tested A Site attack strategies:
Strategy 1: Split Push
Two players feint from A Main after deploying smokes to draw defensive attention, while three players fast-push from A Short. Smokes must block CT and Heaven — the two most critical defensive sightlines. Timing is everything — the A Short team should begin pushing 3 seconds after smokes deploy.
Strategy 2: Slow Clear
Five-man stack pushing from A Main, methodically clearing A Elbow, A Box, and Back Site. Controller cuts defensive sightlines with smokes as you advance; Initiator uses recon to check every corner. Best used when defenders are playing a conservative setup.
Defensive Positioning Guide
The core principle of A Site defense is "layered defense" — don't have everyone stacked inside A Site itself.
- Forward position: One player at A Main entrance using abilities to gather early intel on the attack
- Primary defender: One player behind crates/cover on A Site holding the main approach
- Support: One player at Heaven or CT providing long-range fire support and quick rotation capability
- Roamer: One Sentinel patrolling between Mid and A Short to prevent enemy flanks
The biggest trap in A Site defense is getting everyone pinned inside Site with no options. Always maintain at least one clear retreat path. Sometimes giving up the site to reorganize is the right play.
Key Utility Usage
- Smokes: Two must-block positions — Heaven window and CT entrance. These are the defenders' primary sightlines
- Recon: Sova's recon dart fired at A Main ceiling can scan the entire A Main and Elbow area
- Traps: Killjoy's turret placed atop A Site crates provides continuous intel coverage
